Portrait of Jack Heidelberg

Jack W. Heidelberg, CFA

Biography

Jack, a Jackson native, started with MAG CAP at the beginning of 2023. He has a unique background in fixed income securities that provides value for the MAG CAP team. In addition, Jack is a CFA charter holder and assists Stephen Griner with research on discretionary asset management for individuals and institutions. Jack is also an Enrolled Agent (EA), the highest IRS-issued credential specifically for tax expertise and representation. He focuses on tax-aware investing to help individuals with their year-to-year tax planning, tax strategies for business sales or overly concentrated positions, 1031 transactions, and taxation during retirement.

Prior to joining wealth management, Jack worked in sell-side institutional sales and trading at UBS, focusing primarily on municipal bonds. He assisted in covering mutual funds, insurance companies, bank portfolios, and SMA strategies while working in New York City. This experience provided him with exposure to some of the largest portfolio managers in the country and helped shape his macro-level views of the market. Jack uses this experience to choose investment options for his clients, depending on their individual circumstances. He follows selective money managers to formulate opportunistic strategies for his clients. He is a constant reader of research and manager commentary.

Jack and his wife, Melissa Heidelberg, have three children. He is an active member of the Mississippi CFA Society and the Mississippi Council on Economic Education.
